Next Meeting:  Thursday, March 9

April 13,  7:00pm

by Franklin Noel

A Tale of Two Collectors

A look at the well known collection of Louis Eliasberg, the only collector to assemble a specimen of every date and mint mark of every coin struck by the U S Mint since it was established in 1792. The other collector is the lesser known, but also important, contemporary of Eliasberg, Charles M. Williams.

Franklin Noel is a long-time member of NWCC and regularly delivers well-researched presentations with a polished delivery.  His numismatic interests concentrates on early American copper.

After the presentation, we hold a group activity for those attendees who choose to stay to participate or just observe.

The meetings of the Northwest Coin Club are held at  7:00 P.M. CST on the second Thursday of each month.   We are now meeting at this location :  the Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd, Minnetonka, MN  55345. (north side of Minnetonka Blvd, first exit west of I-494).   Here is a link to a map of that location.

Visitors are welcome:   To visit in-person, just show up at the meeting location.  If you wish to visit via Zoom, please  email that request to NWCC  (but do so at least one full day in advance).

the Northwest Coin Club

Our local club has a rich history in the promotion of coin collecting and the education of Minnesota collectors. Founded in 1934, the NWCC is the oldest coin club in the Minneapolis - Saint Paul area and thought to be the 2nd oldest “regularly meeting” club in the entire country!

Education is the main reason our club exists and we are committed to providing local enthusiasts with the best and most current information available.

If you are a serious collector - or just thinking about becoming serious - joining a local coin club can be the best step towards enriching your hobby of numismatics.  But don’t let the word “serious” scare you.  The NWCC is comprised mostly of true hobbyists who collect coins and currency simply for the joy of it.  We are not primarily focused on “turning a quick profit” from our endeavors, but on learning long-term strategies, best practices and especially on having lots of fun along the way.

If you are a coin collector in the Twin Cities Metro area, we encourage you to attend one of our monthly meetings and experience the camaraderie, fellowship and education offered by the Northwest Coin Club!
